Founded in 2020, Guangzhou-based designer brand ILNYA NIETERNITE NIFUTUR approaches fashion through the lens of contradiction, emotion, and lived experience. Led by head designer Yang Pengyu, the brand reflects on time, imperfection, and the concept between freedom and belonging.
The name ILNYA comes from the French “il n’ya”, meaning non-existent, while its pronunciation echoes Ling Ya”(凌鸦), or “spiritual raven,” a symbol of awareness and reflection. Nieternite and Nifutur translate to “neither eternal nor future,” grounding the brand firmly in the present moment.
This curated collection, Imperfections, reflects on the pressure to pursue perfection in contemporary life. It explores the duality found in accidents and mistakes—where frustration and unexpected beauty exist side by side. Color plays a considered role throughout the collection. Muted greys and black-green tones suggest restraint and unspoken tension, while warm browns introduce softness and release.
This approach continues in the construction of the garments. Inverted internal structures, exposed stitching, misaligned seams, and asymmetric forms are used to echo the theme of disruption. Natural materials such as cotton, linen, and wool are selected for their raw, time-worn textures, while rope-knot weaving, stain-printing, and torn-and-reassembled surfaces highlight the beauty found in process, error, and transformation.
One standout piece is the Leather Lace Jacket, a unisex design crafted from textured washed horsehide. Featuring an asymmetric two-way zip closure, overlapping stand-up collar, irregular shaped shoulder pads, and leather lace detailing along the front seam. With adjustable sleeve cuff zippers, and two side zip pockets—balancing structure with movement.
The Buttoned Wool Vest continues this dialogue through structure and utility. Constructed from woven textured wool, it features a stand-up shawl collar, assorted button decoration across the chest, asymmetric pocket construction, and multiple front zipper pockets. A tactical vest–inspired hollow back, contrast button closure, embroidered brand logo, and double cord waist belt complete the piece.
Accessories echo the same narrative. The Rope Tote is crafted from washed real horsehide leather and defined by its intertwined rope binding, irregular leather wrapping, and eroded, scarred texture. Designed with a rectangular body, adjustable buckled shoulder strap, top zipper closure, exterior open pocket, and rounded base, it functions as a practical yet expressive unisex accessory.
Additionally, the Folded Panel Trousers are wide-leg trousers with a high waist and wide waistband. Featuring a front mid exposed zip closure, side curved wing panels, draped pinstripe panel splicing, and a ruffled hem when worn loose, the trousers can also be converted into a wrapped waist look, emphasizing movement and versatility.
