VERSEAS is excited to be giving the story behind LOUMUTAKU's 2023 Autumn/Winter designs. In this new collection, plants take center stage as a key source of inspiration. LOUMUTAKU masterfully merges the spirit of the outdoors with high-end luxury fashion.
Featuring flowing silhouettes and prints of blossoming gardens. Many pieces also showcase hand-made floral designs, nature-inspired elements, and earthy colors. The brand's interpretation of nature's beauty is the life force behind every piece.
These are LOUMUTAKU’s way of channeling ancient Chinese art styles and instruments. Famous art styles include calligraphy and ink dyeing. Ancient Chinese instruments include the bamboo flute and the pipa.
The pipa is a pear-shaped string instrument that's played by plucking the strings. As one of the pillars of Chinese folk music, the pipa was believed to be played by maidens in heaven. The four strings on the pipa represent the four seasons.
Since his mission is to bring global awareness to Chinese fashion, head designer Lu Mengze weaves rich cultural elements into each creation. The wintersweet print on one of the new pieces showcases just how deeply the brand is rooted in Chinese culture.
Wintersweet is a flower that only blooms during the cold seasons, making it a fitting design for an Autumn/Winter collection. Yet, there’s more meaning behind the artistic choice. In Chinese folklore, the flower represents how the human spirit perseveres in difficult times. In literature, wintersweet is associated with sensuality and passion, making it not just a favorite among artists but writers and poets, too.
Here’s something else to ponder. Fruit-bearing branches symbolize good luck, health, and longevity. Bamboo represents integrity and modesty. Roses bloom into late autumn in China, which LOUMUTAKU incorporates into a few of its pieces.
No matter where we are in life, we can always find strength in plants and their ability to persevere. The ancient Chinese style shows us that art is everywhere in our daily lives—we only have to pay attention.
LOUMUTAKU's designs open doors for a more diverse fashion landscape. So, whether you're a lover of ancient Chinese art, a fashion enthusiast, or someone who appreciates the blend of classical and modern styles, LOUMUTAKU's 2023 Autumn/Winter Collection is sure to leave you mesmerized.
