VERSEAS is launching a limited capsule collection with Brussels based artist POM KOO on Friday July 1st. Showcasing unique illustrations, screen printed on the Wide-Leg Trousers and Boxy Tee from VERSEAS ESSENTIALS. Designed in collaboration with the artist in Brussels and produced in a local, family-owned studio in Chengdu. 
POM KOO’s artistic practice is focused on drawings that can be considered as a linguistic world on its own and are mostly suggestive. By using repetition and comic features like a giant boot or a floating hat, sometimes these worlds can coexist with other drawings or have their own internal logic.
“ I prepared a stack of small format paper and started drawing page by page, like in a sequence, that by the end became more and more eloquent after some pages. This way of drawing is something I’m comfortable with and I have been using a lot to find a good drawing rhythm. Apart from the fact that I wanted to have the drawings both figurative and abstract at the same time, I had no other restrictions. The drawings are floating on the page and compositions are alluding to other drawings once made in the past.” POM KOO
With this collaboration, VERSEAS launches its first collection of custom in-house made blanks. A collection that showcases the work of a young artist, POM KOO. Playful and interesting illustrations, placed on carefully selected positions. Contrasting, pure white, line works screen printed on a pure black 100% cotton canvas. This makes for a loud, yet minimal graphic displayed on body. A modern way of presenting new artworks to the public.
After six months of researching, the VERSEAS team has found the ideal way of printing artworks on cotton garments. Working together with designer VAPOUR BLUE’s family factory on the production, and a local screen printing studio in Chengdu. The design and sampling process has been 100% in collaboration with the artist after multiple meetups in person. Selecting the right illustrations and placement on both the trousers and tee. 
To celebrate this first collaborative capsule collection, VERSEAS is hosting an event at the COTON BLEU store in Brussels, Belgium on Friday, July 1st. The limited collection will be exclusively available in store for a time period of 4 weeks, while stock lasts. On Saturday July 2nd, there will be a very small online drop for those who are not able to attend the event. Music provided by collective NOANNAOS. Drinks on us.
